Putting a Stop to the Overuse of Addictive Drugs in Workers’ Compensation Claims
Prescription drugs have been a significant factor in the rising cost of workers’ compensation claims as well as poor return to work outcomes for injured employees. Over-prescription and overuse of drugs is on the rise and many of the drugs being used put employees at risk for potential dependency. According to the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), narcotics account for almost 25% of all workers’ comp pharmacy costs. This session will provide you with the facts about commonly prescribed opiates as well as new issues arising regarding compounding of drugs and what can be done to solve this problem.
